For those not in the know, the term isn’t Fag Hag, it’s Fruit Fly, and Filipina performance artist Bethesda is coming to the realization she might just be one.  After moving into an art commune to search for her long-missing biological mother, she comes to realize that she just might be a fairy princess/fag hag/fruit fly, as she is welcomed into a world of colorful characters.

Karen and Sharon, an actress and artist, try to make their passionate relationship work. Windham, a flirtatious and adorable gay set designer is looking for love, or at least a good time. And Jacob, a teen runaway, is striving to find his true voice. Bethesda, herself on an ever-evolving journey to find her biological parents, begins a new quest to realize the meaning of home and, hopefully, to find herself in the process. Before that, she must confront other hard truths about how she fits in to the world around her. Could it be true? Could she be a… fag hag?!

With an appealing cast performing 14 catchy musical numbers, writer-director H.P. Mendoza brings San Francisco’s vibrant art scene to vivid life.

Rent control, public transit, one-night stands and other heartbreakingly familiar San Francisco main-stays are celebrated in a lyrical chorus of warm and clever wit. Lavishly brimming with whimsical choreography and catchy hooks that linger long after the credits have rolled, ‘Fruit Fly’ reminds us all that living in the fair city of San Francisco can make you feel like breaking out into song…or living with a broken heart.
