Stuck working on the Fourth of July, receptionist Karen answers a call that leads to her long-lost father. She tracks him down in a trailer park, only to find his sketchy buddy, who may be more than just a friend, “just sleeping on the couch.” Meanwhile, Karen’s coworker Megan must decide between the stability of her longtime girlfriend and the thrill of a new love. Having premiered at the 2012 Sundance Film Festival, out lesbian writer-director Erin Greenwell’s vision of small town life is right on, its comedic timing is perfect, and its depiction of both queer and straight characters is charmingly off-kilter and completely hilarious.
