Let My People Go
A Nordic gay couple seeks reconciliation after their happy existence implodes in LET MY PEOPLE GO!, a kitschy romantic comedy that fuses Jewish and gay cultures. Nebbishy Ruben (Nicolas Maury) lives with his handsome blond boyfriend (Jarkko Niemi) in small town Finland. A mix-up ends in a lover’s quarrel, sending a distraught Ruben home to Paris. With Passover approaching, melodrama ensues at every turn in his devout but dysfunctional Jewish family: the ditzy matriarch, philandering father, ill-tempered brother, and unhappily married sister. Making matters even weirder, an unexpected encounter with an aging pillar of the Jewish community sparks another series of misadventures. Milking laughs from every madcap situation, LET MY PEOPLE GO! is a wonderfully silly, lavish absurdist comedy.
