The Invisible Men
While the Israeli urban center of Tel Aviv may arguably be the most LGBT-friendly city in the Middle East, it is still a space where gay Palestinians have a very difficult and sometimes dangerous time living legally and getting by. This revealing documentary tells the untold story of persecuted gay Palestinians who have run away from their families and are now in hiding. Louie, 32 years old, has been holed up in Tel Aviv for the past eight years. Abdu, 24, was outed in Ramallah and then accused of espionage and tortured by Palestinian security forces. Faris, 23, escaped to Tel Aviv from the West Bank after his family tried to kill him. Together in their dilemma yet alone in their secret plight, their only chance for an open life is to seek asylum outside Israel and Palestine and leave their homeland behind forever.
