The news photograph of the first public casualty of 9/11 showed distraught firefighters as they carried the body of brave Father Mychal Judge, the openly gay chaplain of the Fire Department of New York.
Saint of 9/11 traces the life of this troubled warrior, who fought alcoholism and the disdain of many to become an iconic image of heroism and sacrifice. Father Mychal knew sacrifice well, having taken the Franciscan vow to help the poor and despondent, and ultimately proved himself a beacon to all who previously had no hope.
Narrated by Sir Ian McKellen and speaking Father Mychal's own words, you'll hear from those he literally saved and see harrowing archival footage from the tragic events of that infamous day. This luminous and haunting documentary reveals Father Mychal as a multifaceted, intense, humble, and deeply loved servant of humanity.
