Effortless and deeply commanding, director Hernandez has perfected an art form and exported one of the greatest mood films ever created in Mexico. Hernandez dazzles the senses and plumbs great emotional depths as he traces the thrills and pains of young love awash in romanticism, sexual abandon and the despair of longing.
Presented with subtitles, the film is more dance than spoken word, as the characters spin though dramatic love triangles and friendships, their thoughts and innermost feelings expressed with passion, both in the bedroom and out, searing from their expressions to our waiting hearts.
Using short bursts of poetic prose to nudge the process, Hernandez has created a masterpiece that will affect how you look at relationships now and forever, using Kubrickian stylings and a camera unafraid to penetrate through the walls of sexual desire, meeting with the reality of attraction.
Simply put, Broken Skyis not to be missed.
